Before You Buy

Before purchasing one of our rabbits, we encourage you to carefully read this Sales Policy, conduct thorough research, and ask plenty of questions. Join Facebook groups for Holland Lops and Netherland Dwarfs, browse trusted rabbit care websites, and consider reading books on rabbit ownership. Make sure you have the time, space, and commitment to properly care and to add one of these sweet animals to your life.

A Thoughtful Commitment

We spend a lot of time helping people decide not to get a rabbit. Owning a rabbit is a long-term responsibility—these animals can live 8 to 12 years. While they are wonderful companions, rabbits require daily care, attention, and interaction. They are not ideal for everyone.

Before adopting, think ahead: Will a rabbit still be a priority through various life stages—starting a family, moving, changing jobs, or acquiring other pets? Also consider allergies, time availability, financial commitment, and how a rabbit will integrate into your household—especially with children or other animals.

How to Adopt

Sunshine Lops and Dwarfs rabbits are sold only to those who have read this sales policy, have completed our adoption form and are considered a good match for adopting a Sunshine Lops and Dwarfs rabbit. 

Step 1:  
Read this page in full to understand our process and expectations.

Step 2: 
Submit your Adoption Application. While we welcome all applications, we are selective to ensure our rabbits are placed in the best homes. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval.

Note: If you plan to house your rabbit outdoors, please do not apply. Our rabbits are raised indoors, and we expect them to remain in a similar environment.

Step 3: 
If approved, you may select a rabbit and pay in full to reserve it.

Before You Apply

Rabbits cannot be reserved or leave our care before 8 weeks of age—no exceptions. We do not sell to individuals under 18 years old. A parent or guardian must apply, pay, and be present at pickup.

Payments

We accept Apple Pay, Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal (Friends & Family only).

  • We accept cash only if the scheduled pickup is within one week of reservation.
  • We do not accept checks.
  • All prices are non-negotiable.
  • Full payment is required to reserve any rabbit.

Until full payment is received, the rabbit remains available to other approved adopters. Once paid, we will remove the rabbit from our listings.

We reserve the right to cancel any sale and issue a full refund at our discretion.

Pick-Up Information

Rabbits must be at least 8 weeks old before pickup. Once ready, we’ll coordinate a date, time, and a safe public location for delivery.

We do not allow pickups at our rabbitry.

If you miss your scheduled pickup:

  • $2/day for the first 5 nights
  • $15/day after that, plus $10/night per additional rabbit

Failure to communicate within 48 hours may result in forfeiture of your rabbit and payment.

Health Guarantee

All rabbits are healthy to the best of our knowledge at the time of sale. Once the rabbit leaves our care, we are not responsible for its ongoing health, including illness or death.

We recommend scheduling a wellness check with a rabbit-savvy veterinarian after adoption.

Pet Quality Rabbits

  • Do not include a pedigree
  • Come with a birth certificate (name, parents, DOB)
  • Pricing varies by age, color, temperament, and other traits

Show & Brood Quality Rabbits

  • Pedigree available only to approved breeders pursuing ARBA standards
  • Others receive a birth certificate
  • Labeled based on no known disqualifications, but not guaranteed to win or produce desirable kits
  • Pricing depends on age, lines, show potential, temperament, and more

Policy Updates

Sunshine Lops and Dwarfs reserves the right to update this Sales Policy at any time without notice.
